How did all of that overstock happen?

Orland Park, IL, March 1, 2022 – Is it possible to have too much of a good thing? Apparently, it is when it comes to overstock at Darvin Furniture & Mattress. While they recently expanded their distribution center to stock even more items, space is filling up quickly with more shipments of the merchandise arriving every day.

According to Darvin Furniture & Mattress President Will Harris, the root cause for the overstock goes all the way back to the darkest days of the pandemic when the supply-chain bottlenecks made it hard for many stores to get any merchandise.

"Like everyone else, Darvin initially had some challenges getting stock in for delivery to customers," explains Harris. "However, unlike a lot of furniture stores, we were able to tap into our long-standing relationships across the country and utilize our tremendous buying power to secure plenty of stock that we now have on hand."

The massive Darvin Overstock Sale that is scheduled to begin March 1 is an effort to start moving the huge amount of excess stock that continues to build up in the Darvin warehouse. According to Harris, Darvin's reaction to the bottleneck supply chain issues was to keep buying until the shipments started arriving, sometimes two or three a day. That was when it became clear they had to start making more room. But it soon became clear it was room they didn't have for all the new items arriving.

"We didn't anticipate everything arriving at the same time. Our warehouse challenge now becomes an opportunity for our customers. We simply don't have enough space in our warehouse to store all of the shipments we are receiving. So, we are going to mark it down and move it out," Harris says. "We will be offering savings of fifty-five to seventy percent off on our entire line of brand name furniture and mattresses."
