Governor Pritzker visits Darvin Furniture to discuss the potential impact of Tariffs

Orland Park, Ill., February 7, 2025 — Illinois Governor JB Pritzker visited Darvin Furniture & Mattress in Orland Park Thursday, February 6. He toured the expansive showroom and discussed the potential impact tariffs would have on the 104-year-old employee-owned business. Businesses like Darvin could have to pay higher taxes on imports, which would increase their costs and potentially raise prices for their customers.

"It was an honor to have Governor Pritzker in the store," said Darvin Furniture & Mattress Chief Financial Officer Carol Dizon.  

Darvin Furniture & Mattress, Chicagoland's largest furniture and mattress store, is an industry leader and one of the top 100 furniture retailers in the country. The Governor's visit recognizes the concern that many local businesses have regarding the impact of tariffs would have at the local level.

“Darvin Furniture has the best selection of American-made furniture anywhere in Chicagoland. However, we also have important relationships with companies like Canadel and Palliser, both of whom recently invested in the grand opening of our new Marketplace showroom at our store in Orland Park,” said Harris. “Our customers enjoy the unique urban look, style, and durability of these Canadian products. Should tariffs go into place, our customers may be negatively impacted.”
