Darvin celebrates Good Neighbor Day
September, 28, 2022
National Good Neighbor Day will be on September 28 and it creates an opportunity for neighbors to get to know each other better.
This special day of the year acknowledges and celebrates the importance of being, and having, a good neighbor.
One thing we have learned at Darvin is that when you are in business for more than 100 years, neighbors can make all the difference
in the community. One of our neighbors, whom we are very proud to call our friends, is the Crisis Center for South Suburbia.
The Crisis Center for South Suburbia helps families impacted by domestic violence. By providing assistance with shelter, public
services, advocacy in the community, and by raising awareness, they help families live a life free from violence.
Darvin shines a spotlight on the Crisis Center for South Suburbia and recognizes the amazing work they do every day to protect
and assist families who need a good neighbor's help once and a while. Luckily, for many of these families, the Crisis Center for South Suburbia is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and free of charge.
The Crisis Center for South Suburbia envisions a community where domestic violence is not tolerated; where all people are safe.
The Crisis Center works toward that vision through direct services to victims, advocacy with systems in the community, raising
awareness through education, and by holding abusers accountable.
Be a good neighbor and help the Crisis Center of South Suburbia make a difference in the lives of people suffering from domestic
violence. Simple gestures of kindness turn into life-changing moments at the Crisis Center for South Suburbia, where they rely on
the generosity of their Chicagoland neighbors to maintain their free services.
You can help by getting involved at their website: www.crisisctr.org. Darvin Furniture & Mattress supports their efforts and so
do you when you shop with us.
It is a blessing to have a good neighbor, but it is an even greater thing to BE a good neighbor. Good neighbors often become
friends. They watch out for each other, lend a helping hand, and are there for advice when asked. Being a good neighbor isn’t
all that difficult. Starting with kindness is always the first step.
