Wow your guests. Darvin Furniture & Mattress asked their designers and associates
for some help creating a stunning first impression for your home.
We hope you are inspired!

You can create a great first impression by adding a few seasonal or new-trend accent to your entrance way. Even with limited space, you can create a fresh look for each season.

The best kind of first impression is a feeling of invitation. A cluttered area can make you and your guests feel uncomfortable. Storage is an easy addition to most rooms, end tables with an extra drawer for remotes & other smaller essentials, a shelf on the bottom of the cocktail table for magazines. Another idea is a taller entertainment console to store board games, DVDs, and electronics.

Your home is a reflection of you, the way you dress your home is just as important as how you dress yourself. You want guests to walk into your home and feel comfortable & welcomed. The use of color, space, and design are strong ways to reflect the personality of the homeowner. A nice rug can do a lot to pull a room together.

Have a focal point in your entryway, such as a mirror with an ornate frame, a pretty upholstered bench, or an accent chest with framed pictures of your family. Try something that is noticed immediately when you walk in the door, but is also functional.

If a customer is furnishing their living room, I like to update the entire room to make it look fully redone. I like to add on tables, rugs, lamps and wall art. Then, make suggestions for adjoining rooms, like foyer or dining room to add another rug.

I think a great way to make a stunning first impression is to add a statement rug. It’s a great way to use color and pattern to anchor your room. Speaking as a rug specialist, it’s the first thing I notice when I enter a room. Even looking at pictures in a magazine, my eye is instantly drawn to a great rug. Be creative and use a round rug for an added statement.
