“Shopping for a mattress is all about making sure you will be able to relax and sleep. We have made a lot of changes this year to create a calming and comfortable experience for our customers,” says Diab.

“We really softened up the space,” says Diab. “Rather than stark lighting and colors, the showroom is much more calming and comfortable. I think it helps people to get into the right mindset to shop for a mattress. After all, the main goal is to help them get a great night’s sleep”.

Darvin carries the industry’s most popular brands as well as some boutique brands. “Soon we will have a couple of offerings from the Property Brothers as part of the Restonic brand, and Therapedic Bravura,” says Diab.

Technology plays a huge role in the way mattresses are constructed. It has also provided unique features such as head-up, foot-up, and massage/dual-massage options. Adjustable base beds are all the rage and Diab says a lot of the popularity is being driven by younger customers. This is something that would have been well outside the norm just a decade or so ago.

“We have had adjustable base beds for some time, but for many years they resembled hospital beds. In the last three years, they have really grown in popularity, people are coming in and specifically asking for them,” says Diab. “Now, today, they are one of the biggest options we feature on our mattresses. It’s all about getting comfortable and being able to accommodate whatever the owner is doing – including sleeping.”

Many couples have different preferences for firmness and employ different sleep positions that impact the style of mattress. "Technology has changed dramatically over the years,” Diab says. “Today, hybrid mattress construction featuring memory foam, which gives pressure point relief, paired with coils that offer support, is a combination that is very popular.”
