Bowling Event Gives Away Thousands in Prizes at Darvin® Furniture & Mattress

Customers efforts earn $800 donation to Crisis Center for South Suburbia

Orland Park, IL, September 1, 2021 – It was meant to bring people together to have a little fun, to celebrate with some great music, and to enjoy some of the best deals of the year, explains Darvin President Will Harris of the recent Darvin Furniture & Mattress Best Brands Big Bowling Event held August 7-9. Many of the families who came in to bowl left with gift cards, concert tickets and more.

In addition to the thousands of dollars in prizes given out to customers throughout the event, Darvin committed $25 to the Crisis Center for South Suburbia for every person who rolled a strike on the showroom lanes. More than 30 times customers tossed a strike, netting $800 for the regional Crisis Center.

“Our friends at Darvin understand the need to help and generously support their community,” says Lorri Nagle, Director of Development Crisis Center for South Suburbia. “They’ve been there for the Crisis Center for South Suburbia by providing mattresses, donating furniture and recently hosting a bowling fundraiser that will provide 16 nights of safe and welcoming shelter to a family victimized by domestic violence.”

Dennis Nichols of Evanston shows just how far customers will travel for the great deals at Darvin. He also had his name entered into the Grand Prize drawing for the $1,000 Darvin Gift Card – and he won it! “At first when I got the call I’d won, I thought it was a joke,” he says. “I went in and picked it up and turned around and spent it on a new couch!"

When Carole Sharwarko of Homewood got the call that she had won a prize, she really wasn’t sure what it would be. “I knew Darvin was giving away prizes for other businesses, but I really hoped it was a Darvin card. I picked it up from the cashier and let out a big hooray when I saw that it was a Darvin gift card,” she says. “I’m still not sure whether I’ll put the money toward a piece of furniture like a new dining set, or one of the many pieces of art that I love at the store.”

For Karina Hiraldo of Hickory Hills, who won an Apple Watch, her reaction was swift and punctuated. “I was surprised at first, because I have never won anything before, so my reaction was a little profaned, but then I back-tracked and said thank you, thank you!”
